Wooo! So there is quite a bit going on in my life right now!

First of all the Creative Arts block at my school has FINALLY been changed. I thought I'd never get out of the wrath of the world's evilest music teacher, Ms. D. So now my course is in guitar lessons until June (aka the end of the school year.) It's pretty good, even if some of the kids in the class with me are annoying and couldn't carry a tune to save their life.  However there is some kids in there that already know how to play the guitar pretty well, making me look even more like the amatuer that I already am.  Atleast I try, eh? My partner gave up her turn halfway through her song, lol. So I played it about 75% of the class. Oh, speaking of the partners. Considering that there wasn't enough guitars for all of us, because the school is welfare, we had to get with a partner and share the assigned guitar amongst us. In English class earlier in the day *a certain student* promised to be my partner for the class since she was in it with me. Well, when guitar class rolled around, she turned around and partnered up with someone else!  I pulled up my chair next to her and she was like... "go find another partner" and I was like... wtf?? I keep getting screwed over!!  So then I was just sitting alone, looking like an idiot, as the teacher dude went around assigning the guitars to everyone. Well, there was this other chick who had been cast off by her "friends" just like me, so the teacher paired us together. Soooo.... that was about it. I learned a couple of chords and praticed strumming... wahoo.

It was kind of dissapointing, 2 days ago, when they rounded all us grade eights up in the multi-purpose room to tell is what block we would be in next. It wasn't a huge surprise though... all the bonk kids went to art, the easiest and only one they can do.  I wanted art. It wasn't fair! There are five choices for creative arts... art, music, design technology, drama and guitar. Now, these certain kids don't have the "mental capacity" to play a musical instrument correctly, lack the desire to do drama, can't be trusted with expensive guitars and certainly isn't wise to put them in a room full of power tools. So what's left? Art, of course. It's the only thing that even a chimp could pass. Now, mind you, I ain't got nothing against these kids... it's how they get all the easy breaks is what I'm miffed about. They get whatever they want, whenever they want, and they don't even have to do a tap of work... they get everything coming easy to them which is, sadly, not what the real world is all about.  Eh, I'll get off that now... when they happened to call my name for guitar, I couldn't hear it. Some chick who had her name called right before me was shouting and complaining about what block they were in so I couldn't hear my name being called. Then I found out I was indeed in guitar and then had to show up for class late because of it. :/

Anyway, enough about creative arts and all that junk. I've got like three tests coming up... not fun. My teachers must be insane. Or something. One of them includes a math exam midterm. I don't know why we need TWO midterms... that's a bit much. I can understand that they want the kids to "learn". But how many of them actually study, do you think? It's pointless for the "not-so-bright" kids. And just a pain and a waste of time to the ones who actually do their work.

Enough about school... how about the weather eh? It's sure beginning to look like spring! You can tell it's spring 'round these parts when the roads are a foot deep in meltwater.  There's water everywhere, lol. And it's been raining and snowing. It is very very mucky! But once it all clears off and all the snow has melted it's pretty good. Spring is a good season. The little birds come back and eat seeds and build their nests. And hopefully don't bring bird flu.  (But that's another story!) The grass starts to sprout in little green shoots, the trees begin to grow their leaves, and the weather gets warmer. What could be better! lol! Seriously though, spring is a good season. It's quite a welcome change from winter. Plus, I was born in spring lol!

Well, I think that's enough for tonight. I have to go to bed soon. 'Til next time!

New Layout!

  • Mood: I got a cold...
  • Weather: Stormy!!

Yay! So yesterday I made a new layout. I was up until like midnight getting it designed and put on. I quite like it. I decided I needed a change from the black one... I don't know... I just don't like black very much for my blog, and I got tired of it. Plus, spring is on the way, I need something fresh, light and clean to match. =D It's definately my best one yet. ^__^ It was all because I just found out that I had somehow renewed my PSP trial... hehe. So now I have like 20 days left.

Anyway, the last few days have been lazy... and boring. Because it's March break. I've been going on the net alot since there is nothing to do... going on KVille, working on my website, blah, blah, blah. Kinda boring. -_____-

But anyway I've got a whole bunch of homework from my teachers for the break... grr... they never stop do they?? >:[ But anyway, my computer was freezing up alot yesterday... I had written a whole page for one of my posts on here... and they my computer FROZE on me! So they I had to restart the computer, and I had lost the entire entry. @___@ And as if that wasn't bad enough I had lost some work on my PSP... some blends and whatnot... all that work... gone. >.< I couldn't believe it! Computers.... they can do so many wonderful things, yet they can bring so much woe sometimes!!

Hmm, I just looked out my window... and it is storming. A snow storm in March... but it's nothing unusual around these parts. Winter never fails to leave us a couple of drifts for March and even April... sometimes it takes until the middle of June for the snow to completely melt away. I guess it takes that long when you've got 9 feet of the stuff. *__* It's not like I hate winter... I certainly don't love it either though... but by now, I'm kind of sick of all the cold and snow. Espically living in such a cold climate.

Well, anyway, I think I'm gonna end it off here... 'til next time...

Lately...

  • Mood:
  • Weather: It's getting warmer...

Hmm, I haven't posted in a while. So I guess I'm gonna give you a little update on my goings on lately.

Anyway today is the first day of March break, yay!  Friday was a half-day so that was good. Thursday was our Snow Day. It wasn't bad. But Amy kept on annoying me, she wanted to wear my ultra cool sunglasses hehe.  But after 3 hours of standing out in below freezing weather with only sneakers on my feet got kind of wet and cold. >.< I decided not to stay for the rest of the day and went home instead. It was just as well, pretty much everyone was ignoring me, Sarah was hanging out with her "boyfriend"  and everybody else was busy with stuff.

In case you don't know what Snow Day is, it's just a fun day of activities outdoors and indoors for the whole day. The main feature is for each grade to work together on a huge snow sculpture and see who makes the nicest. Other outdoor activities included chicken bowling (you bowl with a frozen chicken lol), egg toss, "smoosh" race and sled races. In the afternoon you go indoors and the activities there were volleyball (students vs. teachers), tug-o-war, kareoke, etc. We even got free hot chocolate and hot dogs.

And here's a pic...

Okay, so my dog doesn't really have anything to do with Snow Day, but she was in the car with my mom when she picked me up.

So yeah, anyway today I found out that my mom's friend had her baby on saturday! They had to induce her though, because her blood pressure was high or something. And it was 20 days before the due date but that's okay. And her name is Crystal.  They're going to get professional pictures done for her tomorrow and then we will be able to see what she looks like sometime after that. (We can't go and see her because they live on the other side of the country, lol.)

Today was an ok day, nothing special. Life is going to get better from now on lol, it's march, one more month closer to summer vacation, and just a week away from our week-long break. Plus, on thursday, weather permitting, we will have Snow Day. (Sounds strange, I know!) But Snow Day is basically where the school plays in the snow all day, does winter sports, and best of all, has a snow sculpture competition. It's going to be wicked fun! Snow Day is a tradition in our town/school. (I say town because the school I go to is quite new, you see we had one school that had Snow Day but that closed down and we built the one I go to now, so we decided to carry on that tradition.) Everyone looks forward to it, it's going to be alot of fun.

Speaking of March. There's hints of spring here already, in fact it is quite warm and wet here, some snow is even melting (you can see al the slush on the roads lol). But it's still the hardest month. By now everyone is so sick of winter and all the snow they just can't wait for it to end. Also, one day in March it could look like winter is finally over, but the next day - we have a snow storm. It's also a busy month kind of, with Snow Break, Winter Games, Snow Day, St. Patrick's Day, quite a few birthdays in the family, etc.

Well that's all I have time for now, 'til next time...

A couple of things

  • Mood: ok I guess
  • Weather: Windy...

Ok, so I am on my dad's computer in the classroom before school starts again. So this'll be a quick one.

Yesterday's music class was the worst one ever. I'v only played my instrument (clarinet) for like 2 classes due to illness. So of course I can't know how to play the whole frickin' song in one class - Eye of the Tiger. I haven't even learned half of the notes yet. So yeah. And anyway the teacher was getting us to play a 'g' note on our instruments. I was the worst one out of the clarinets of course. But then, the rest of them have been playing for three months, I haven't. So anyways. After everyone plays their note, that's where the humiliating part begins. The teacher just says something to this affect; "Who's the most off-tune clarinet and alto sax player? Point to them" and only one stupid kid points to me and the other kid, the other people hear her but don't point 'cause they don't really give hoot about what this teacher thinks. So yeah that was kind of embarrassing because everybody knew she was referring to me. (And the other kid too of course.) I'm glad that I'll be out of this course by next week, it's been a looooong three months with this teacher. (Stupid teachers - the world is full of 'em. Grrr.)

And about the speech thing - I won, by "forfeit". Let's just call it that because the two boys didn't show up to read there speeches. Must of forgotten. Pssh. Boys. So now I go on to the next "level" where I compete with other classes.

I've decided not to go see "Hoodwinked" on Friday, I'm just going to stay home from school that day. I've been so stressed out with school and my life lately I'm just not going to bother and sleep in instead. I need this day off, part of the reason why I have been so sick lately is probably due in part to all the stress I have been going through. I haven't had hardly any free time since Christmas break, I haven't been able to sleep a night for months, I guess it's just student-burnout eh?

Anyway, g2g, school is starting in one minute lol. 'Til next time...

So MOODY!

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Don't know, don't care...

So yeah, I woke up in the worst mood ever this morning. "PMS Reloaded"? Maybe. Every little thing was getting me riled up. I hate it when I get like that!  It isn't even within my control!

Yesterday was an ok day though. Just before homeroom my English teacher asked me if I wanted to read my speech to a couple of teachers and if I wanted to compete in the speak-offs. I said yes of course because I have never been in a speak-off before, plus I am competing with two boys and I know I can kick their butts!  I have to read it after school today. I hope I do good. Wish me luck!!

On thursday or next thursday... I don't know... we are going to the mpvie theater to wathc some movie. I think it is called Hoodwinked or something. But anyway we have to pay 5 dollars for it. I doubt I want to see it. Plus I've been hoarding me money, every last penny, so I can buy Paint Shop Pro.  And I don't even like going to the theater in my town. The last time I stepped into was when I was like, 7 years old. Well, willingly anyway, I was forced to go there when I was 11. So yeah. I just don't like it.

Anyway there's not much more to say. Except mom thinks I have a chest infection so I will probably have to go to te doctor today. I HATE hospitals.

Anyway I have to go soon, school is about to begin... 'til next time...

Up here in Newfoundland we have a thing against teachers -

  • Mood:
  • Weather: About -15C without windchill

Ugh, I am feeling so ranty today. Must be the PMS. But anyway, VOCM's question of the day goes like this; "Do you support putting close to two billion dollars, most of it Atlantic Accord money, into the teachers' pension plan?"

For those of you unknowing and curious, allow me to explain. Anyone who has been living in Canada for the past year or so, there is a chance that they knew about the feud between Danny Williams (current premier of NL) and Paul Martin (then prime minister of Canada) about the Atlantic Accord. When Danny had to put up a fight and (imo, childishly) took down the Canadian flag in protest when Martin wouldn't had it over so easily... I'm sure you all remember that, right? In the end, Danny got the Atlantic Accord money for us - 2 billion dollars. Now that money is sitting in the bank. (Instead of using it to pay off debt - which we have aplenty - it's just sitting there doing nothing.) But now he has finally decided to do something with it...

Which is putting it into the teachers' pension plan. So basically this is paying the bills, just read on...

But allow me to explain some more. Teachers in this province all pay into their pension. I'm not sure how long ago, but in a previous leadership that money was used wrongly. But they've got to give them something to pay them back with right? But they spent it on something else. Oopsie.

So now there's a big ol' row between us common folk about how the money should be spent. This is where the title of this post comes in. Now, not everyone is like how you see on VOCM... some of us are just really stupid. Doing what the government wants us to do - going at each other like cats and dogs. I hate it when people comment on stuff they aren't even knowledgable about - it makes me want to hit something. Seriously.

Some - I mean alot - of people posting on VOCM are ignorant, imo , beyond belief. Saying that teachers "don't have a hard job, hardly any stress on them, they get SO many holidays, omg!" That is complete and utter BULL what some are saying. I mean, get an 'effing clue! Gawd! Try being a teacher for just one day! I'm not a teacher myself... but my dad is one... good enough? And I go to the very school where he teaches... I see what happens daily there, so I know what he deals with. Fights in the lunchroom, halls, and corridors. Kids not listening. Disrespecting the teacher. Cussing out the teacher. F*cking off 'cause they just don't care. And then when the kid messes up their own loser parents come in and blame it on the teacher. No one has a clue about what my dad has to go through, and that's just with the kids. Not to mention the work load, setting up labs, correcting tests, quizzes, and assignments, making up tests and assignments, and much more.

Ok, so maybe you don't believe what I'm saying - I don't care, it's a free country, believe whatever you want to believe. But the fact of the matter is, the money has to come from somewhere to pay for the pension, and we just *happen* to have quite a bit sitting in the bank, doing nothing but collecting interest. The money was taken from them. It's time they get it back.

-

Here is an excerpt my mom wrote on there once...

However, the FACTS that I refer to are the ones you listed: Holiday duration, sick days, skating! All a part of the system one would think. Some teacher's go an entire career & hardly use a sick day! I know some! A Science Teacher takes students on Field trips as a learning experience. Not a holiday. My comments were in response to your statement that you did not know (Not sure). Teacher teaching days have increased significantly over the years. I went to school as did you & I currently have one child in the school system. I think this year school is out the 23rd of June. Many years ago when I was in school, it was over much earlier. Teachers are in school longer because there was a need for a longer school year. There is 1 week off at Easter; not two; in our school. 9 days off at Christmas this year (13 in total, including weekends;which don't count). Which school system are you basing your information on? Most high school teachers do not take students skating etc... This is mainly in the primary & elementary grades. It goes hand in hand-gives the children a break from the stuffy classroom. Exercise, the chance to learn to skate etc... Most Parents pay for bussing of these events. Government doesn't allow for these extras. The Teachers are not off some where else, having a break. Most years there are very few snow days. Everyone else gets them as well, not only school closures! Teachers, in my experience, will stay in after school to help students if they need extra help. Teachers do many other details that many of the general public know very little about. Simply because it is not spoken about. Extra curricular activities, lunch time supervision, breaking up fights, chaperoning school dances & school fundraisers! How about all the hours of school work done at home, after the students go home? A Teacher's job don't end there. Science Teachers have to set up Labs for the next day etc... High school teachers spend countless hours/holidays, correcting work, doing up reports etc... the list is endless! Too bad the media is not doing it's job to inform the mis-informed public of all the facts. Teachers did not ask that all the Accord $ be put back into the pension fund. It will have to be paid back at some point. They only asked that the pension fund be addressed; reasonable one would think. I am alarmed to hear that you find Teacher Stress funny! Do you know any Teachers personally? Most jobs have some level of stress, as do life in general. Stress is not a laughing matter. It also comes in many different forms. The government is making a mokery of the Teachers & are enjoying this. Teachers are not the enemy!

-

Another fact is that all this bickering on VOCM is stupid. The population doesn't have a chance to vote on this; it's up to the government and the government alone.

Maybe once people get over their jealousies they can let stuff like this go.

*(Sorry if I sounded a bit whiney on here. But I needed to let this out.)

And then I have a math test on Tuesday!  *screeches* This is so unfair.  Well, atleast I have my English Speech done (kinda) ... break out the wine! lol!

This really sucks... I didn't even have a proper weekend. Weekends are supposed to be for relaxing... well, I didn't get much relaxing done this week!  I've been waaay too busy.
